To become certified as a Healing Heart Dogs therapy team, you and your dog must pass the Healing Heart Therapy Dogs Certification Test, which tests situations you may encounter during a therapy dog visit.
Dogs must be at least one year old, have been owned by you for at least 6 months prior to testing, and meet specific health qualifications.
The ideal therapy dog candidate loves people and other animals, and never shows signs of aggression. A therapy dog can remain calm around large groups of people in many different settings.
The American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Program is the first step in training for many dogs. The CGC is a 2-part program that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners.
Healing Heart Therapy Dogs is part of Give to Lincoln Day 2022. Give to Lincoln Day is a day designed to support non-profit organizations in their fundraising efforts and share the positive impact they have on the lives of those around them.
Healing Heart Therapy Dogs is a non-profit that strengthens human and animal bonds by allowing dogs to heal people's hearts. These interactions can help to transform a life of fear, discouragement, and sadness into one of happiness, independence, and hope. We hope that you can find it in your heart to donate to our mission or to pass this information along to those who may be willing to support our desire to help.
