During the month of May, all donations to Healing Heart Therapy Dogs are directed to Give to Lincoln Day. Give to Lincoln Day, coordinated by Lincoln Community Foundation, is a time when everyone in Lincoln is asked to make a donation toward the organizations that are critical to the care, support, and spirit of our great city.
Every donation between May 1 and May 30 makes a bigger impact because participating nonprofits also received a proportional share of a $650,000 match fund provided by LCF and generous sponsors, including Presenting Sponsor, West Gate Bank – the largest match fund in Give to Lincoln Day’s history!

To become certified as a Healing Heart Dogs therapy team, you and your dog must pass the Healing Heart Therapy Dogs Certification Test, which tests situations you may encounter during a therapy dog visit.
Dogs must be at least one year old, have been owned by you for at least 6 months prior to testing, and meet specific health qualifications.
The ideal therapy dog candidate loves people and other animals, and never shows signs of aggression. A therapy dog can remain calm around large groups of people in many different settings.
The American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Program is the first step in training for many dogs. The CGC is a 2-part program that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners.
